Looking for an apartment maintenance technician who will be responsible for ensuring that the apartment complex or building is well-maintained and operates efficiently. This job will take place across roughly 230 units across 4 apartment complexes in Valparaiso and Chesterton, Indiana. The right person will perform a variety of tasks, including maintenance and repair work, routine inspections, and preventative maintenance. The duties and responsibilities of an apartment maintenance technician may include:
Qualifications and General Apartment Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:
• Must have a valid driver's license and a car with active insurance.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Ability to communicate with proficiency in English. Property manager speaks English and Spanish so English as a second language is ok.
• Knowledge of the safe and proper use of common tools, cleaning products and supplies.
• Must have own general tools.
• Tracking inventory to ensure that you have adequate maintenance supplies.
• Scheduling repairs with skilled tradespeople when unable to make repairs yourself.
• You will be responsible for diagnosing problems and making repairs in areas such as, but not limited to, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry, drywall repair, general cleaning, appliance maintenance, and exterior structure maintenance.
• Perform general repairs to apartments, including, but not limited to, patching and painting of drywall, repairs or changing of locks, light plumbing of sinks and drains, and electrical work such as changing outlets and fixtures with some supervision.
• Providing pleasant customer service for tenants.
• Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
• Communicate regularly with our management team regarding resident concerns and maintenance matters.
• Ability to professionally complete work orders and unit turns on schedule.
• You will work as part of a maintenance team, so willingness to be a team player and assist other team members as needed is beneficial.
• Potential availability to respond to after-hours emergency calls 24/7, including weekends and holidays - will be discussed based on pay and role.
• Maintain the integrity of the community by ensuring the confidentiality of resident and company information.
