Job Summary:
Balemaster is a leader in automated waste handling equipment and has earned the reputation of being an industry expert, providing solutions that offer the highest value through well engineered products and exceptional services. Currently, Balemaster is seeking to hire an experienced Process Engineer for their facility located in Crown Point, Indiana. The Process Engineer will have a strong understanding of interpreting welding schematics, and be responsible for designing, implementing, controlling and optimizing our specific manufacturing process which will aid in enhancing equipment for maximum efficiency. In addition, the Process Engineer will oversee, evaluate, and calibrate equipment, assume new project assignments such as robotic welding systems, and procedures used in the development and production of our products and will ensure safety and quality requirements are being met.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Prepares protocols for validation, process or performance testing of new or modified manufacturing equipment, procedures, or systems.
• Designing, developing and creating welding fixtures for welding positioner.
• Potentially oversee and manage the implementation of a large robotic welding cell for facility.
• Reviewing and updating welding drawings utilizing AutoCAD and Inventor.
• Collaborates with other manufacturing managers and leadership to set and assess priorities across teams.
• Familiarity with NFPA & OSHA machine design standards and requirements.
• Assesses cost effectiveness and feasibility of manufacturing processes; makes and implements recommendations to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
• Supervises tooling operations, ensuring all work is performed accurately and according to quality and safety standards.
• Provides guidance and oversight in development and execution of plant renovations and expansions; coordinates outside contractors and vendors.
• Assists the Maintenance Supervisor and/or other appropriate leadership with programs, activities, and responsibilities of the maintenance department.
• Collaborates and coordinates with appropriate departments and staff regarding the scheduling or implementation of process testing, process changes and implementation training.
• Identifies root cause of production problems including:
o nonconformities of product or process standard and
o offers recommendations for resolving deviations
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD a must.
• Experience with Inventor or other 3D CAD Software highly desired.
• Thorough understanding of industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
• Thorough understanding of applicable mathematics and scientific practices.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
• At least 12 to 24 months of related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
• Must be able to manipulate equipment for calibration and modification.
• Office and heavy industrial environment with mechanical activities requiring personal protective equipment.
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The Process Engineer is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the Process Engineer may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The Process Engineer must be able to occasionally lift 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting; close vision and ability to adjust focus.
