Job Description: Grazing Assistant
Overview:
Goats On The Go Burlington, a targeted grazing company, is seeking at least one Grazing Assistant to help manage a herd of up to 150 goats (and occasionally sheep). This position involves traveling to customers’ properties to control invasive weeds and brush through grazing.
Key Responsibilities:
• Install portable fencing.
• Monitor animal health and wellbeing.
• Observe and document changes in vegetative cover.
Additional Details:
• Serve as the on-call first point of contact for herd and project-related issues.
• Duty periods of 3-5 days, followed by similar off-duty periods as jobs arise.
• Travel between Burlington and project sites via company vehicle or personal vehicle.
Qualifications:
• Dependability, independence, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to perform physically challenging outdoor work in various weather conditions and rough terrain.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to back a trailer.
• Hands-on experience with livestock is a plus but not required.
• Relevant coursework in agriculture, animal science, veterinary medicine, forestry, natural resource management, or ecology is beneficial.
• Suitable for remote workers, couples, or retirees seeking extra work.
