I want to send automatic transmission to my brother (for his car) in Russia by air mail. I'm wondering if there will be some problems for him to get it (I mean probably the customs can hold it for some time). Are people allowed to send such things to the other countries? Thanks in advance!

Yes you can send it there is no problem... but let your brother to find out all this information at his (yours) country. I suppose there is some limits ($ 100 more/less for package) which person can get from other county without any custom fees. My guess your package is gonna be more then that so brother probably is gonna pay some money for geting it.

Good luck. I am not sure if US POST Office will take it at first, usually there is a limit on weight. UPS or FedeEx can, but they probaly charge a lot. Read their web sites, all the details are available. Also in Russia the limit was around $390 per parcel....but that need to be confirmed.
