We are a Flatbed trucking company seeking an experienced Safety Coordinator to join our team in Elgin, IL. This role is ideal for someone with strong ELD knowledge, hands-on driver safety experience, and the ability to coach drivers, manage compliance, and support daily safety operations.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and manage ELD logs, HOS compliance, and violations

Conduct driver coaching related to safety, HOS, speeding, harsh events, and violations

Lead and assist with new driver orientation (safety policies, ELD training, company procedures)

Review and process DOT inspections, violations, and safety events

Assist with accident reporting, documentation, and internal investigations

Maintain accurate driver qualification (DQ) files and safety records

Track and follow up on preventive safety issues and recurring violations

Communicate daily with drivers regarding safety concerns and corrections

Support safety audits, internal reviews, and compliance initiatives

Work closely with dispatch, maintenance, and management to reduce risk

Enforce company safety policies and DOT regulations consistently

Required Qualifications

Previous experience as a Safety Coordinator / Safety Assistant / Safety Manager in trucking

Strong ELD experience (monitoring, correcting logs, coaching drivers)

Knowledge of FMCSA & DOT regulations

Experience with driver coaching and orientation

Strong communication and organizational skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced, office-based environment

Attention to detail and compliance mindset
